VIKING ROVI – Natural Warmth Hidden Within

When the chill creeps into the morning mist, you look for a jacket that understands the changing moods of the weather — one that keeps you warm without stifling you. The Viking Rovi was designed to keep you comfortable in all conditions — powered by the strength of natural down, carefully selected and certified, delivering performance that speaks for itself.

Down That Truly Works

At the heart of the Rovi jacket lies 90/10 natural duck down with a fill power of 750 cuin.
What does that mean in practice?

  • 90/10 means that out of every 100 g of filling, 90 g is pure down (the most insulating part), and only 10 g are small feathers (which help maintain the structure).
  • 750 cuin (cubic inches) measures how much the down expands after compression — the higher the number, the more air gets trapped within the down clusters, resulting in better insulation at a lower weight.

Thanks to this, the Rovi offers an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio.

How Natural Down Works – Air-Based Insulation

Down doesn’t generate heat on its own — it traps air, which serves as a natural barrier between your body and the cold surroundings.

Hundreds of tiny chambers within the down structure trap the warm air produced by your body.
As the temperature drops, this layer acts as a natural buffer, reducing heat loss.
When it gets warmer or your activity level increases, the breathable structure allows excess heat to escape, preventing overheating.
This way, the Viking Rovi adapts to your body and to the environment, maintaining thermal comfort — never too cold, never too hot.

Down Loft – Lightness, Durability, and Volume

The cuin rating is key to understanding why high-quality down is so efficient.

  • The higher the cuin value, the better the down’s ability to regain its loft after compression (e.g., in a backpack).
  • For down jackets, 750 cuin is considered the benchmark of premium quality — often used in high-end outdoor apparel.
  • Thanks to this loft, the Rovi jacket remains lightweight and compact, and once unpacked, it regains its full volume and insulating properties for many seasons.

However, keep in mind: frequent and long-term heavy compression (without proper storage) may reduce the down’s loft over time.
That’s why the Rovi should be stored in its expanded state — loosely, not tightly packed in a small bag.

Breathability, Thermoregulation, and Comfort

Natural down isn’t a fan on its own — but combined with the jacket’s construction, outer fabrics, and quilting, it creates a comfortably regulated microclimate.

Breathable outer fabrics (such as lightweight or membrane-based materials) work together with the down layer, allowing moisture to escape.
In mild conditions, the down doesn’t act as a barrier — excess heat can dissipate, so the jacket doesn’t feel stifling.
This is especially important in transitional seasons (autumn, early winter), when the weather can change quickly.

Light. Compact. Ready for Any Moment

Thanks to the high loft of its down filling, the Viking Rovi jacket is:

  • Incredibly lightweight – often barely noticeable when worn,
  • Packable – it can be folded into the included pouch and easily stored in your backpack,
  • Reactive – once unpacked, it quickly regains its original loft and insulation efficiency.

An ideal companion for adventures, city wear, or everyday use. It’s always good to have it on hand.

RDS Certification – Ethically Sourced Warmth

The down in the Rovi jacket is RDS-certified (Responsible Down Standard).
What does that really mean?

A guarantee that the down does not come from birds that were force-fed or subjected to cruelty,
Full control over the entire supply chain — from farming to cleaning and final production,
Transparency and auditing — brands are required to document the source of their down.
By choosing Viking, you’re not only investing in quality and comfort, but also supporting ethical and responsible treatment of animals and nature.

Technologies That Support the Down

The Viking Rovi jacket combines the natural benefits of down with precisely chosen technologies:

  • DWR (PFC-free) – a durable water-repellent coating that protects against light moisture while maintaining breathability,
  • Quilting – prevents down migration and cold spots while minimizing fabric use,
  • YKK and SBS zippers – ensure smooth operation and long-term durability, even under heavy use,
  • Recycled materials – outer fabrics made from sustainable sources, lightweight yet abrasion-resistant, and compliant with environmental standards.

Altogether, these features make the Rovi not only a comfortable jacket but also a technical piece of protection.

Rovi in Action – A Versatile Companion

Thanks to its parameters and design, the Viking Rovi jacket performs well in a variety of settings:

  • As an urban layer – stylish and lightweight, perfect for everyday cold protection,
  • As mountain insulation – ideal as a mid-layer under a shell,
  • As a main jacket for autumn or mild winter – light yet warm.

Natural Warmth. Technical Precision. Conscious Choice.

The Viking Rovi combines:

  • the power of nature (90/10 down, 750 cuin),
  • technical craftsmanship,
  • ethical responsibility (RDS certification),
  • urban outdoor style.
